Dated : 14 March 2016
Mr David Ford
Minister of Justice
Stormont Estate Belfast BT4 3SG
cc : Northern Ireland Executive.
Subject : Woodburn and Policing
Dear Minister Ford,
I write as chair of Belcoo Frack Free with regards to the proposed drilling at Woodburn. I urge you and your colleagues in the Executive to give this matter your undivided attention to avoid violations of EU law, and international conventions, and most importantly violations of human rights issues. Ultimately the PSNI are going to be in the middle of it all as they were in the proposed Belcoo drilling project, but there is a more hardened line being drawn at Woodburn.
Quarry firm denies selling property to fracking company
LOCAL construction firm Acheson & Glover has denied claims that one of its quarries in Belcoo has been purchased by Tamboran, the company that previously held a licence to frack in Fermanagh.
The issue has been highlighted by the local cross-community, campaign group, Belcoo Frack Free. They claimed on social media this week that Tamboran “have bought or are in the process of buying the top quarry from Acheson and Glover”.
In February, it emerged that Tamboran had lodged another legal bid to return. Tamboran Resources (UK) submitted an application to the High Court to challenge the adoption of the Strategic Planning Policy Statement, which was published last September and included a presumption against fracking in the North. It is the third application for judicial review proceedings from Tamoran since its licence was terminated in 2014, with two others still ongoing. Continue reading
EPA on site with vehicles at Belcoo
EPA vehicle seen at the quarry, and WINDMILLS being put in at the back of the quarry. This means a whole load of vehicles going up and down that road, including big pieces of equipment. The majority of those vehicles have MITTEN on them, red lorries, using Mill Lane even to go up and down.
There have been two unmarked vehicles seen actually entering the Gates of Hell and that has been random and ongoing for a while. They drive in there, don’t stay long and leave. One is a large silver jeep.

Helmut Fehr, German geoscientist and well-respected authority on hydraulic fracturing, visted the Tamboran site in Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh, today. He and his lovely wife were greeted by some solid protectors, braving the freezing cold, sleet, and windy conditions.
Standing at The Gates of Hell, the mood was positive and showed the continued cross-border support for this fight against the frackers here in Northern Ireland. A heart-warming sight indeed on such a freezing day!
