Campaigner/mother is wondering what is happen in Ireland….
‘I live in North Texas, USA, where fracking is going CRAZY!!!!!!! I was just wondering, is fracking banned in Ireland?? I visited Ireland about 10 years ago and have been dreaming about it ever since. Just wondering what was going on there. Please don’t allow fracking to happen there as so many people are sick here!!!!!!!!!
Ireland is one of my favorite places on earth. It will break my heart to see this happen to you.’
‘Denton just had a city council meeting that lasted until 3:30am with hundreds for citizens there to speak against fracking and describe their own horror stories. It is up for a vote in November (whether or not to ban it) but I’m afraid that there are still too many people who are not paying attention and will not vote. Lots of people here have headaches, weird illnesses like lupus, arthritis, flu like symptoms, nose bleeds, and I have been recently hearing about people getting strange tumors. My good friend’s kid has a nose bleed every night and every morning!!! I hope you can get enough help to spread the word around because once they start, it is hard to stop them. I just received a certified letter from the city saying that basically some contaminated water has been found near my house (the water was supposedly shallow and I don’t know if it had anything to do with the drilling) but they said they had to inform people within a 5 mile radius of the site because it could be a “threat to human health”. I heard at the city council meeting that the oil and gas companies have plans to basically put gas wells on 30% of the city in the future!!!! This started with one or two, here and there, and now the landscape in some areas is completely littered with wells. Calvin Tillman (you probably remember him from the GASLAND documentary) lives around us and comes to some of the meetings. He is awesome and is working really hard to change things. I’m hoping someday he will run for governor of Texas!!
