Please sign the statement: 2014.03.03 TTIP statement eu CS groups FINAL
There is increasing concern about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) currently being negotiated between the EU and the USA. The concerns are because of its potential damage to levels of environmental protections and social standards and important public services here in Europe. I have been following the topic specifically with respect to chemicals.
Now many different civil society groups (development, health, environment, public services, trade unions, etc) are circulating for sign on a JOINT STATEMENT on TTIP of a general nature (not specific to chemicals).
HEAL participated in the drafting of this statement via my work on the editorial group, and my participation in a pan NGO meeting.
We would also like to ask you to consider also signing on to this statement as individual groups. For individual group sign on send the name of your organization and country, and logo to Joe Mobbs: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The statement is attached. (see below) Please remember that this statement’s wording will not satisfy all of us completely – it is a compromise amongst a wide diversity of groups. Any of your groups can make additional statements that GO BEYOND this one.
The main purpose here is to show our united front and our common agreement.
I will be sending you a factsheet on TTIP and chemicals very soon, and a general TTIP briefing you can use for the European Parliament elections also – but sign ons for this statement cannot wait for those.
– send it around to your member and partners with a mail, asking groups to sign up.
This statement will be put on a page on the site: bilaterals.org.
