This Friday is the deadline for submissions to the Renewable Energy Export and Development Policy. This is another plan based on Irelands National Strategy for Renewable Energy 2012-2020. While the public are being consulted for this and other follow up plans, the underlying strategy was completed without consulting them.
On Saturday Nov 9th LEAF – Laois Environmental Action Forum and COF – Claiming Our Future hosted an event to create a People’s Charter on Renewable Energy. Well over 100 people attended and the message was clear – communities want a say in our energy future. People want a voice. The national strategy 2012-2020 denied the public their right to participate. The first action on the People’s Charter is to request a comprehensive, public review of the 2012-2020 strategy and any other plans being drafted based upon it be put on hold until this base strategy represents the publics input.
Submissions on the energy export policy must be returned by FRIDAY. Please sign this petition now so that we can send a clear message to Pat Rabbitte – We want Public Participation in Irelands Renewable Energy Plans starting with a review of Ireland’s National Strategy for Renewable Energy 2012 – 2020.
